Was 'Twisters' THE Summer Blockbuster?

Going into this movie, I was sure this would be an overrated, overhyped “summer blockbuster.”

Was it? Let’s find out. (Don't worry, no spoilers)

I hate thunderstorms. It’s been so rainy and stormy down recently where I live, making me anxious. So for someone who hates storms, this movie was incredibly effective in creating some incredible storm scenes. I don’t know how they did it, but the special effects in this film were incredible.

I loved Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, and Katy O’Brian in this. I haven’t seen Daisy in many movies, but I thought she was great in this. As a British actress, she played an excellent Oklahoman. While I feel like Glen Powell plays a lot of the same characters in all of his movies....he’s hot so he gets a pass. I recently watched Katy O’Brian in ‘Love Lies Bleeding’ (amazing, by the way,) and she was so fun in this film. She is one of my favorite recent “breakout stars.”

I thought the story was pretty good. It was somewhat predictable, however, I think the engaging special effects and dramatic scenes were really what kept me on the edge of my seat in this film.

Another thing I loved about this film was the music! I am an unashamedly big country music girl (Fun Fact: I’ve gone to six country music concerts in the last 12 months) and this soundtrack was incredible. I got a little too excited when “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma” came on during the movie (I love Luke Combs.)

So, you’re wondering if this film is a “summer blockbuster?” In my incredibly professional opinion, absolutely. I had so much fun with this film and I recommend that you catch it while it is in theaters.
