The Machine Movie Review

Last week, someone showed me Bert Kreischer's stand-up "The Machine." With 52 million views, this is something prevalent in pop culture that seemed to fly under my radar until then. Conveniently enough, I was scrolling through TikTok last week and saw an ad for this movie, a fictional continuation of the stand-up comedy act. So naturally, I had to see it on opening night.

This is me, taking me BeReal during the end credits of the movie.

With a 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, I was a little nervous about what I was getting myself into. However, the 7.1/10 rating on IMDb and the 96% rating on Fandango made me less nervous. Not having seen anything from Bert Kreischer besides the original stand-up that the movie was based on, I was not all too familiar with the comedian's sense of humor coming into the movie. Basically, I went into this film preparing myself for a fun flick with fairly low expectations.

This movie actually blew me away with how funny it was. I laughed my ass off at the hilarious one-liners. I got emotional from the heartfelt moments that the movie provided (no, I didn't cry). I cringed at some of the gore and disgusting moments. I got excited by some of the great action scenes, and just genuinely had a great time with this film. The beginning of the movie honestly made me think it was going to be a bit cheesy, but once the film really got going, it was great.

Another note I wanted to add was that Mark Hamill was terrific in this movie. Everyone knows he's an amazing actor, but he was also just so fun in his role.

If you haven't watched the original stand-up yet, I recommend doing so (I have attached a link to the video below). If you have two hours to spare this weekend, check out this enjoyable film!
