Summer Comedy Blockbusters: Hit or Miss?

The summer season is synonymous with sunny days and exciting movie releases. Recently, I marked my birthday by watching two of the latest comedy flicks that hit the theaters - The Blackening and No Hard Feelings. In this write-up, I'll share my opinion on these movies and help you decide whether they are worth watching on the big screen or not.

the blackening movie review

As someone who is a fan of horror movies, I was excited to watch a horror comedy like The Blackening. However, I was expecting it to be a bit more campy, like a Scary Movie or Haunted House film. While it was a fun movie, the ending was predictable and the funniest moments were already shown in the trailer. Overall, I don't think it lived up to the hype. If you're looking for something entertaining, you could watch it in theaters, but I would recommend waiting until it's available for streaming.

the blackening movie review

Although I am not typically drawn to romantic comedies, I must admit that I enjoyed No Hard Feelings. Jennifer Lawrence's performance was outstanding, and the trailer had me laughing uncontrollably. While the film was amusing and entertaining, I couldn't help but feel that the most memorable moments had already been showcased in the trailers. Although there were a few new comedic scenes, most of the highlights were ones that I had already been exposed to through Hulu and TikTok advertisements.

Although the movies had their humorous moments, I can't help but feel a little letdown. It's unfortunate that the trailers showcased most of the funniest scenes for both films. Production companies should consider leaving more to the audience's imagination when creating previews. In my opinion, No Hard Feelings was the better choice between the two, but it might be best to wait for them to become available for streaming instead of spending money on tickets.
