Refreshing Action Film: 'Monkey Man'

Regarding what movie to watch in theaters on my day off, I was between Monkey Man and Imaginary. After seeing the horrible views for Imaginary, I decided to go with Monkey Man. I didn't know much about the film going into it. All I knew was that Jordan Peele had a hand in it as a producer, and it appeared to be an Indian John Wick. Let's get into the spoiler-free review.

As the title of this review suggests, this was such a great, fresh action film. I have so many great things to say about it. The fight scenes in this movie were amazing. I loved how at some points, the point of view made the viewer feel like they were the ones in the movie. Some of the angles and shots were incredible, and this was a visually entertaining movie. Speaking of visuals: DEV PATEL IS SO HOT. So, that made the movie more enjoyable as well.

I loved the story that this film told. There's nothing better than a classic "protagonist who comes up from nothing and seeks acts of vengeance for longheld grudges" story, and this film did that in a way that was so entertaining and new.

The soundtrack in this film was also incredible. Every song fit so well in every scene and was especially helpful in many of the action sequences.

Despite the cultural differences between of India and other countries, I think many viewers, especially Americans, could find some of the themes of this movie relatable, especially regarding class differences that were represented in the film. It is crazy to me how people on such different socioeconomic scales can coexist in such proximity, yet truly live worlds apart.

In conclusion,I honestly didn't find a lot of flaws in this movie. This has taken my top spot out of the films I've seen this year, although I will say that I am horrifically behind when it comes to seeing the latest movies this calendar year. But, I'm hoping to stay on top of that a little more in the months to come. If you've made it this far, I truly do appreciate you for reading my blogs. It's not much, and it's just a little hobby I have, but your support means the world to me.
