Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Movie Review

Updated: Jan 22

Where do I start? I will start by saying how much I love Guardians of the Galaxy. Ever since I saw the first movie, I was hooked (on a feeling.) This team of misfits from outer space stole my heart in middle school, and now that I'm graduating from college in less than a week, the conclusion to their story hits harder than ever.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead

What did I like about the movie? This movie had me in tears from the moment it began to the moment it ended. Rocket is such an important character to me as he was one of my dad's favorite guardians, and seeing his story represented really meant so much to me. My dad and Rocket had so much in common from their sense of humor to general badassery, and I just know my dad would have loved this movie. Aside from Rocket's story being generally amazing, in the usual Guardians of the Galaxy style, the movie served up a great number of laughs, action, and music that made for an incredible conclusion.

I also LOVED Adam Warlock. I have been waiting for him to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe for such a long time. I also just generally love Will Poulter as an actor and his performance. I also really loved Mantis and Drax in this movie. Drax has always been one of my favorites (I love you, Dave Bautista,) and his interaction with Mantis throughout the film was hilarious.

Another thing I really loved about the movie was the story itself. Especially at the end with all the characters going their separate ways, it really resonated with me. As previously mentioned, being a senior graduating college and starting a new life, this part of the movie felt very relatable, and the timing of this movie coming out in my life was just perfect. Another relatable moment I had in the movie was with Drax's analogy he shared with Star-Lord. feel like I have been hopping from lilypad to lilypad all my life, and have finally decided to take some time for myself and jump in the water of life on my own.

What did I not like about the movie? I really had no significant complaints about this movie other than I wanted more of Adam Warlock and that the soundtrack was not my favorite out of the three movies, but it was still incredible (It did have an Alice Cooper song on the soundtrack though, so bonus points for that.)

In conclusion, this movie that was hyped to be the best movie since Endgame certainly delivered on its promise. While I'm sad to see them go, I'm so thankful for this wonderful movie that was the conclusion of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
