As my last article discussed my rankings for the movies of 2022, in this blog, I will be discussing which movies of the 2023 lineup I am most excited to see and why. These are in order of when they are coming out, not which ones I am most excited to see.

1. M3GAN: January 6th, 2023

TikTok's favorite dancing doll is coming to the big screen at the beginning of the year. Many people have described M3GAN as a modern-day Chucky, but instead of the soul of a serial killer, M3GAN is powered by AI. To be honest, I thought the movie looked really dumb from the sights of it in the trailer, so I am just looking forward to wasting my money on seeing it in the theaters and getting a laugh out of it. Will I eat my words come January? Maybe. Will I still laugh when the doll starts dancing (for some reason?) Definitely.

2. Infinity Pool: January 27th, 2023

Mia Goth in a sci-fi horror film?!? You can bet I'll be there on opening night. From the looks of the trailer, this movie seems insane. If you don't know by now, I love Mia Goth. She was fantastic in X and Pearl, so I am incredibly excited about this new movie!

3. Knock at the Cabin: February 3rd, 2023

Ever since I saw The Sixth Sense at an incredibly young age, I have loved M. Night Shymalan movies. 2021's Old, despite not being a crowd favorite, completely blew me away. In my opinion, Shymalan's movies always hit the nail on the head, so I am very excited about this movie.

4. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania: February 17th, 2023

I haven't been interested in Marvel movies as much recently, but this one looks really good! I've loved the Ant-Man movies so far and the plot of this one looks really interesting from what I can tell from the trailer!

5. Cocaine Bear: February 24th, 2023

He's a bear. And he's on cocaine. This black comedy thriller has really piqued my interest. Based on a true story and directed by Elizabeth Banks, this sounds like an awesome movie that I can't wait to see in theaters.

6. Evil Dead Rise April 21st, 2023

Even though I haven't liked recent classic horror movie reboots, franchises, or remakes (I'm looking at you Candyman (2021,) Halloween Kills, and Scream (2022,)) I'm really excited about this one. From the stills released so far (see creepy image above,) this film seems promising!

7. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 May 5th, 2023

First of all, I can't believe it has been six years since we've gotten a Guardians movie. Nonetheless, I'm really excited to see what this group has in store for them in this film. Thor: Love and Thunder left me wanting to see more from the Guardians, and I'm hoping that this movie will deliver. Also, according to Google, it apparently has Nico Santos, John Cena, Idris Elba, and Margot Robbie in it?! If this is true, I'll definitely be there on opening night.

8. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse June 2nd, 2023

With how fantastic Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was, how could I not be excited about this film?! I loved seeing all the different Spider-Man variations in the last film and I can't wait to see how that is continued in this one.

9. Insidious: Fear the Dark July 7th, 2023

Given that this movie comes out in July, there isn't much information out yet about this film. From what I can tell, it looks like it still follows the original Lambert family from the first two films, and Patrick Wilson himself is directing it! I love the Insidious movies so I am really looking forward to this one!

10. Barbie July 21st, 2023

I've been excited about this movie since the news broke about it in 2019. In fact, I even blogged about my excitement for it almost three years ago. Needless to say, this movie has been a long time coming. I love Margot Robbie and seeing her as Barbie is going to be fantastic. She's an amazing actor and I know she'll play the part well. My only vendetta with this movie is the fact that Will Ferrell is in it. I passionately hate Will Ferrell, but that is something we can get into in another blog.

11. Kraven the Hunter October 6th, 2023

Another movie that doesn't have much information out about it, I am really just excited to see how this character's story is portrayed. The only thing that makes me nervous is that it's a Sony movie, and I'm still a little emotionally scared of Morbius.

12. The Exorcist October 13th, 2023

Again, this is another movie with not much information about it now. However, I am a sucker for horror movies and am willing to check out a remake, reboot, etc.

13. Saw X October 27th, 2023

It looks like next October is going to be a busy month for me! Unfortunately, I am one of those people who has seen every since Saw movie and actually enjoys them. I had a whole theory in high school about how the lessons in the Saw movies that Jigsaw was trying to teach related to Christian theology, but that is another blog for another day.

14. Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes November 17th, 2023

Fun fact about me: When I was in middle school, I ran a fan account for The Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Maze Runner. It had over 500 followers and I really thought I was hot shit. Needless to say, I am really looking forward to this film and bringing out my middle school fangirl again. This movie also stars three actors I really love: Hunter Schafer, Rachel Zegler, and Viola Davis!

15. Trolls 3: Trollstopia November 17th, 2023

Despite the number of horror movies I am excited about, I also have a soft spot for some children's movies, and Trolls are one of them. I consider myself to be the biggest fan of Trolls: World Tour. That movie is so interesting and entertaining, and I am beyond excited to see what happens in this third installment of the franchise. I hope to see more of my favorite character in this film, Tiny Diamond.
